What about equipment I hear you ask?

A KitchenAid would look fantastic in my kitchen, but it would have to sit in the sink which is probably not recommended by the manufacturer (do not try this at home).

A bijou kitchen means one has to be über organised for the 2 drawers and 4 cupboards to store the elemental cooking equipment. It also means one cannot be tempted by an electric pepper grinder, a terracotta garlic keeper or the R2-D2 talking pizza cutter from the gadget shop.

The luxury items I treated myself to are a Le Creuset casserole dish, a Phillips hand-blender and a modest garlic crusher. A very useful zest peeler was a gift.

A few good knives and a couple of trusted pans is really all one needs –then all that’s required is a good appetite.
